The cast is truly spell-binding and at the heart of the show’s critical acclaim. Laura Pick as Elphaba delivers outstanding vocals throughout, bringing the house down with the standing-ovation-inducing Defying Gravity. Glinda, played by Sarah O’Connor, also gave a flawless performance in a role she was born to play – sensationally opening the show with No One Mourns The Wicked. The pair develop a touching chemistry as the narrative unfolds, with both humour and emotional depth.

Carl Man makes for a captivating Fiyero with a charming take on the character involved in a love triangle. Man showcased smooth and suave vocals, especially in Dancing Through Life. Donna Berlin as Madame Morrible was another stand-out with a commanding and formidable stage presence, nailing the complexity of the character. In addition, Simeon Truby took on two roles as Doctor Dillamond and The Wizard in a display of pure talent accompanied by soothing vocals. Daniel Hope brings Boq to life with charm and sincerity, capturing the character’s endearing qualities. Meanwhile, Megan Gardiner portrays the role of Nessarose with depth and sensitivity.

The production value is nothing short of spectacular with exemplary special effects and lighting, particularly noticeable during the Act 1 Finale. From the glittering costumes to the immersive set designs, the level of detail is phenomenal and successfully transports audiences to the world of Oz. The smooth staging secured by Joe Mantello and Wayne Cilento allows for an engaging pace throughout. Furthermore, dance arrangements from James Lynn Abbott were polished to perfection, brightening the stage during musical numbers.
