\’The Batman\’ Nears $600M at Global Box Office

\’The Batman\’ continues to dominate the Box Office in its third weekend. The Warner Bros. and DC film has taken the No.1 spot for the third consecutive weekend. In total, Matt Reeves\’s The Batman has now amassed a domestic total of $300M and $598 Million worldwide.

The film has been hailed as one of the best Batman movies to date, receiving universal critical acclaim upon release. Its almost perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes and the buzz amongst critics certainly helped the film gain more ticket sales. The project was born in 2013 when Ben Affleck was signed on to star, direct and write the movie. However, when Affleck dropped out, Reeves took over and rewrote the story, removing any DCEU connections.

This new standalone film focuses on Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight, as he ventures into Gotham City\’s underworld after a killer leaves behind a trail of clues. Alongside Pattinson is Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Alfred, Jeffery Wright as James Gordon, Paul Dano as The Riddler and Colin Farrell as Penguin.

The hit movie had the potential to rake in even more ticket sales in China. However, the film has underperformed in the Chinese market, with approximately 40% of Cinemas closed in the country due to a COVID-19 surge. In China, The Batman debuted to a small $12.1 million. Without the closures, it was on track to open to $25M+.

With a 45-day release window in cinemas, you can expect the DC movie to hit streaming soon. The Batman will debut on HBO Max in the US towards the end of April.

The Batman is in Cinemas now.
